Project Life…

So I have a bit of a problem.  As much as I LOVE to scrapbook, I really don’t have the time to do it properly.  By properly I mean, turning those 12×12 pages into artistic masterpieces that are swoonworthy with their breathtaking photography {done by moi of course} and captivating color palette.  In my own {rather dreamy} mind they would contain buttons, bows, and stitched edges, painstakingly detailed {by moi again}.  Yeah.  I don’t think that is going to happen!  I’ve tried it.  It’s a beautiful dream.  But… after a few pages, I run out of time and the family gets tired of the scraps of paper strewn across the kitchen table.  Real life.  So, I was kind of excited when I ran across a different way to scrapbook.  It’s simple {so I can’t get toooo wrapped up in the details} but the papers available are gorgeous!  The system is called Project Life and it was created by Becky Higgins.  What it basically consists of is an album {I picked the fabulous ‘Olive Edition’}, a core kit {again I stuck to the ‘Olive Edition’} and a package of her photo pockets.  What makes this easy is that the core kit consists of thick color coordinated paper cut to the size of the photo pockets.  No cutting!  Yeah!  The papers allow you to hand journal your thoughts, or descriptions of your photos… so… it is personalized and can be done in a matter of minutes.  Also, no glueing!  Now… I have to admit, I pulled out my tape to clean up some bad cropping that I did, but I didn’t have to!   Yeah!  So, basically I can go as simple or as detailed as I would like…  my first two pages I tried to keep it simple.  The BIG problem that I ran into was that my lovely ‘Olive Edition’ didn’t match my photo colors or style.  I just happened to have some old scraps and Washi tape, so I made it work.  What I did use from the kit were the white journaling cards.  I love the fact that I got a few photos out of my hard drive and printed up on paper, and now I can share them!  Yeah!  I’m excited!

Well here are my first 2 pages… my goal is to do a set every week, preferrably what I did the past week.  I’m going to give it a shot! Oh, and I’m going to order some more core sets!  I love having variety!  I did struggle with looking at my handwriting.  Yep, I don’t feel comfortable with my chicken scratch, but I keep telling myself, that is what makes the scrapbook real, personal and less time consuming!  I’ll get over it… one of these days!

My niece Danielle and her boyfriend Thomas are in the upper center spot and my son Hayden and his date Mikaela are on the upper right. Awwwwl.

My son’s friend Branden brought the car over, what a great prop!

  1. This is so cool. I JUST started doing project life this year for my own kids b/c it’s just an easier way to scrapbook, and I’ve completely gotten away from it in the past couple years! These are beautiful images and beautiful memories. How lucky for everyone that you preserved them 🙂
